You received your child's first report card yesterday. Everything that is inside the report card is yours to keep. I just need you to sign the back of the report card jacket for the corresponding six weeks and send it back to school.
There are two main academic areas to focus on. The first one is Language Arts. You will notice that there are many shaded areas. These areas are not being assessed at this particular time, but are all the skills for Language Arts that we work on everyday. These areas are formally assessed at various times throughout the year. Please keep in mind that your child will not be required to know the information in isolation, but they will be assessed on their ability to use it and apply it on a consistent basis in the classroom. The 2nd six weeks the only skill assessed was the ability to listen attentively and determine the importance for listening/responding appropriately.
In Math, the skills assessed reflect what has been taught the previous six weeks. This six weeks we checked for mastery of sorting, position, and location.
Behavior grades are a reflection of the information that has come home in the daily folder. An "N" is not a bad thing. It is simply showing an area where your child could use some improvement.
You may also find the report card and other grading rubrics on the Cy-Fair website.
Please let me know if I can help you in any other way.
